Who Is God?

Who is God? This is a crucial question and needs answer

Everything about who God is extends far beyond this universe, to God's throne in heaven, and not just across the 100 billion light-years of our universe. Five biblical and theological terms stand out among numerous others. Eternity and infinity are increased by each of the five terms. What then is God?

The question "Who is God?" is the most crucial one.

You'll have a full and abundant existence if you get this one right and experience who He is every day! Deuteronomy 7:12–13, Psalm 16:2, John 10:10, and James 1:17 all mention this. This is still true today.

One of my mentors once said, "I am sure that a true understanding of God provides the answers to every problem and issue of life for both time and eternity." How hopeful!

In the words of another mentor, "When I don't take time to think on the God I serve, He seems too little to help me; instead, I decide to handle the anxiety alone and blame God for it later." Yikes!

The quote by A. W. Tozer that I find so inspiring is "The man who comes to a right belief about God is relieved of ten thousand temporal problems, for he sees at once that these have to do with matters which at the most cannot concern him for very long." What hope, yet again!

God's identity is unknown.

Thus, "Who is God?" Five words from the Bible and theology stand out among others. Eternity and infinity are increased by each of the five terms.

What do we mean when we say, "My love impossibly falls short of God's love," in other words? Everything about God extends far beyond this universe, to God's throne in heaven, and not just across the 100 billion light-years of this universe.

So, what are the five key phrases that explain who God is?

1. The Rule of God

A word is multiplied by eternity and infinity, so keep that in mind. That is ultimately what it means to be the Lord God.

Scripture has the word "sovereign" hundreds of times, and it is also found 6,700+ times in the hallowed divine name, YHWH. In the majority of contemporary Bible translations, the latter usually takes the form of the capital letter "LORD."

When we consider who God is, we start by saying that He is all-powerful (omnipotent) and present everywhere (omnipresent).

Both facets of God's sovereignty were sources of joy for the biblical heroes of the faith. The LORD has set his throne in heaven, and his kingdom reigns over all, according to King David (Psalm 103:19). Later, he prayed, "LORD, all that is in heaven and on earth is yours; thus, the greatness, the might, the glory, the majesty, and the splendor are yours. The kingdom is yours, O LORD, and you are elevated as supreme ruler (1 Chronicles 29:11).

"Sovereign Lord, you created the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in them," the earliest followers of Jesus prayed (Acts 4:24). In a later statement, the Apostle Paul referred to God as "the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable brightness, whom no one has seen or can see." Amen. To him be glory and power forever (1 Timothy 6:15-16).

Does God's power and presence therefore permeate each second and every inch of your life?

Yes! Never feel alone. And you always have power. What do you want God to accomplish for you, as He is with you? Scream to Him right now.

2. God's providence. 

The word "providence" (relating to God) doesn't appear in a single Bible verse, in contrast to the word "sovereign." In some ways, that makes sense. After all, the word "providence" refers to God's eternal, limitless, and largely invisible hand at work in groups of people, including nations, tribes, families, and individuals.

Abraham, Joseph, Ruth, Ezra, Esther, and several more heroes of faith celebrated God's providence, which grew their confidence and trust in Him. "I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted," Job humbly acknowledged before God (Job 42:2). The Lord gave the prophet Isaiah this assurance many centuries later: "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is yet to come. I declare, "My goal will stand, and I'll carry out my wishes." (10: Isaiah 46).

King Nebuchadnezzar wrote to everyone in his empire after seeing a great miracle, saying, "He [the LORD] does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one is able to stop him or ask him, "What have you done? " (4:35 in Daniel). God "works out everything in line with the aim of his will," the apostle Paul said (Ephesians 1:11).

Do you live your life in accordance with God's wisdom and goodness?

Yes! When you acknowledge and celebrate both today, life is bountiful!

3. Holiness of God

In the Bible, the word "holy" and its synonyms are used more than 1,600 times. It becomes immediately apparent that while people are not holy, God is, that God expects us to be, and that we cannot be without His supernatural alteration.

The Lord instructed His ancient people after giving them the Ten Commandments, saying, "Do not disrespect my sacred name, for I must be regarded as holy by the Israelites. You were made holy by me, the LORD (Leviticus 22:32). Additionally, he instructed them to "be holy, for I, the LORD your God, am holy" (Leviticus 19:2).

Heroes of faith from both the Old and New Testaments discuss how the dichotomies of holiness both tested them and propelled their faith into action. "Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your dominion," the Bible says in the middle (Psalm 45:6). The Bible says in the end that God disciplines us for our benefit so that we can partake in his holiness (Hebrews 12:10).

Does God's holiness and splendor therefore pervade your life?

Yes! The time has come to repent of any known misdeeds and to accept God's holiness all over again.

4. Love from God

The concept of God's love wasn't created by Jesus or His disciples. Not at all!

Keep in mind the Lord's holy name, YHWH? Here is the first portion of the definition given by the Lord Himself: The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to wrath, abounding in love and faithfulness, sustaining love to multitudes, and forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin, passed in front of Moses as he stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD (Exodus 34:5-7).

Have you ever noticed how often the word "love" appears?

In reality, "God" and "love" coexist in the Bible a plethora of times, particularly in the New Testament. John 3:16 is the most well-known of these verses. Romans 5:5 and 5:8 are two more well-known verses that speak of God's love, as are Romans 8:38 and 39. Others are found in 1 John 4:7–10, 4:16–19, and elsewhere. But knowing about God's love alone is insufficient.

Do God's generosity and passion penetrate your life, then?

Yes! Right now, allow His love to enter into your heart and arms.

5. God's Purposes

When we consider who God is, we cannot get to a conclusion without mentioning His infinite wisdom (omniscient). This does not imply that God is aware of all knowledge. He does, that much is true, but God knows a great deal more.

Do you recall phone books? There are a million facts, but none of them will alter your life. Facts are just that—facts—by themselves. God possesses all wisdom, all understanding, all discernment, all insight, and ways that are "far beyond our heads," in addition to all knowledge.

In his own words, the LORD says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. "My ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your ideas, just as the skies are higher than the earth." (See Isaiah 55:8–9)

Alternatively, "God alone knows" multiplied by all of time and all of eternity.

None of us is aware of even 0.000001% of all that is true, right, significant, and life-altering. Why, then, are we ever inclined to believe that we are wiser than God? How should we spend our lives if not better than He does? Zero chance!

Does God's mystery therefore engulf your life?

Yes! Today, humbly acknowledge His superior, heavenly wisdom.

More Is God

I don't wish to imply in this post that God can be summed up in just 5 words. I can assure you that He is so much more!

The Lord God is One in Three (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), infinitely and eternally, as I am informed through Scripture.

When I'm under pressure, I'm reminded that the Lord is with me, and I give Him thanks for His eternal, boundless joy and peace.

I remember the Lord's holiness and love after I have sinned, and I give Him thanks for His wonderful, magnificent kindness and grace.
